Many people have heard of lactose intolerance but, a little less known is yeast intolerant. When someone is yeast intolerance it means that their body’s over produce candida. Candida is a group of yeast-like fungi that lives in moist areas of the body, including the mouth, intestines and vagina. In most people the populations of candida are kept in check by beneficial bacteria in the body. However, sometimes they grow beyond tolerance levels in excess of what is required.

The infected person suffers from yeast intolerance and a disease called candidiasis or thrush. There are some doctors that believe heavy infections of candida in the stomach and intestines can contribute to a wide range of different disorders like abdominal discomfort, disturbed bowel function, soreness, and itching.

It is possible that candidiasis is affected by an individual’s health and diet. The fungi typically thrive on simple sugars, bread, and biscuits. They also thrive on fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, and alcohol. For the most part, a person in good health can usually keep candida under control, but if the immune system is weakened by illness or stress the fungus can grow quickly. Helpful bacteria within the body can also be killed off by antibiotics causing the fungus grows rapidly as well.

Other possible causes of candida include a hormone imbalance, stress and poor nutrition. When a person’s normal diet is lacking in the right nutrients, it can weaken the immune system as well making it difficult for the body to cope with the toxins that the excess yeast produces. People who are suffering from candidiasis often have cravings for sweets and yeast-containing foods and drinks.

Candidiasis can be treated with a special diet that avoids the person eating yeasty foods and the foods on which candida thrive. There are also anti-candida drugs that doctors can prescribe, such as nystatin.

Some of the symptoms of yeast intolerance are bloating and excess gas. A person with a yeast intolerance might also suffer from diarrhea and headaches. They might also suffer from mouth ulcers and a furry or coated tongue.

The only way for a person who is yeast intolerant to completely eliminate its symptoms is to follow a yeast free diet. This might have to be a change that lasts for the rest of their lives or at least until the symptoms have subsided.

A yeast free diet requires one to take food like cheese, yogurt, caffeine out of their diet. The foods that are causing the problems within the body can sometimes be re-introduced into the diet once the correct balance of yeast has been produced in the stomach.

Typically it is recommended that the diet should be followed for a period of three months before any of the high yeast foods can be re-introduced into the diet.

While yeast intolerance is a problem that can be frustrating and painful, it is easy for the sufferer to get their bodies back on track. With a simple change of the diet, the symptoms can subside and the body get re-gain control over the natural bacteria in the body.

A yeast free diet is a diet that is followed by those who are yeast intolerant and is intended to inhibit the overgrowth of Candida yeast within the body. The dietary restrictions are focused around promoting health and the overall well being of the person. Although it is normal for bacteria to reside in the body, sometimes it gets out of control causing the sufferer to notice certain symptoms like abdominal pain and bloating.

Following a yeast free diet means eliminating foods that are high in yeast like breads, rolls, cookies, pastries, pretzels and other kinds of bready foods. Vinegar is also high in yeast and should be avoided as well as foods that contain vinegar like mayonnaise, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, mustard, pickles and pickled foods. Plus foods that are fermented including sauerkraut or cider should be avoided plus wine, beer and spirits.

Other foods that should be avoided in a yeast free diet are moldy foods like cheese, dried, smoked or pickled meats, cured bacon, mushrooms, and some nuts like peanuts and pistachios. Other kinds of moldy foods include soy sauce, malt, pre-packaged herbs and teas plus, canned tomatoes. Although a person that is yeast intolerant typically will crave sugary foods, certain types should be avoided in a yeast free diet like typical processed sugar including granulated, confectioners, and brown sugar. Foods that contain sugar should be eliminated from the diet like chocolate, honey and maple syrup plus, soft drinks and drink mixes.

High fructose corn syrup should be avoided as well as some fruits that are high in sugar like grapes, raisins, dates, prunes and figs and citrus fruits plus fruit juices and dried fruits.
Over the course of following the diet for at least three to six weeks, there will be a huge die-off of yeast within the system. Your body will slowly adjust to the new diet and you will look and feel much healthier. The diet flushes the toxins from your system and provides much greater short-term and long- term energy reserves.

Unfortunately, within the first few weeks of the diet the body will be dumping many yeast toxins into the intestinal and vaginal tracts which can cause flu- like fatigue, weakness and irritability. However, the body will quickly rebound. In order to maintain good health over time and prevent yeast problems from reoccurring in the body, you should continue to avoid yeast, sugar and dairy products for the entire length of the diet.

After about six weeks you can gradually add small amounts of some of the other restricted foods back into your diet. You should only add one new food at a time. You need to track your body closely at this time to see if that particular food causes problems for your system. You will then know if this is a food you should continue to avoid.

In most cases, those who are yeast intolerant will learn how to limit their bodies from the amount of yeast they eat and will learn their body’s symptoms and know when they need to avoid all kinds of yeasty foods for a short time.

When diagnosed with an intolerance to wheat, many people are not sure of the right way to change their diet in order to help their bodies to function properly. It is a misconception that foods containing wheat are completely off limits now. Simple changes can be made to foods like cake in order for someone who is intolerant of wheat to enjoy their fair share.

These days there are flour substitutes that can be used in a cake recipe and are free of wheat. Many of the following wheat flour substitutes are superior to wheat in their nutritive qualities as well. Millet is the most easily digested grain available. It is also the least allergenic.

It is a good source of silica and protein and millet flour can be used for baking. Similar to millet is sorghum. It is a cereal grain that is ground to produce sorghum flour. Amaranth is another grain which is ground for baking. It is a wonderfully rich source of calcium and is also high in magnesium and silica. The amaranth grain has been hugely used in Mexico to prevent malnutrition.

While there are a lot of alternatives to use to substitute wheat in your cake recipes, there are also types of flours that you should stay away from. Brown, bulgar, cake, granary, durum, plain and self-rising flours should all be avoided due to the wheat they contain. Plus, semolina, wholemeal flour, triticale, sauce flour, kamut, spelt, and graham flour should all be avoided as well.

Although, substituting flour containing wheat for flour without wheat in a cake recipe may not be the issue. The issue might be; where can these different kinds of flour be purchased? Many of the wheat flour substitutes listed above are available at natural health stores, many Asian food stores, or online. With the growing popularity of substituting wheat in cake recipes, many of the main grocery stores are beginning to catch on and now stock these flours and grains. Plus, people who are not wheat intolerant but are just looking for a healthier alternative to wheat are also driving this popularity as the benefits of these non-wheat grains are now becoming apparent.

It is important to understand the difference between gluten intolerance and wheat intolerance. People who are gluten intolerant can not eat anything that has gluten in it. For instance they can not eat wheat, rye or barley and any other cereals that contain gluten. But, someone who is wheat intolerant can eat rye and barley due to the fact that the main culprit in their intolerance is wheat. There is no avoiding the fact that some foods, like breads, will taste differently then those that are made with wheat flour substitutes.

The texture of such foods will also be different. It is the gluten in wheat that binds the dough and helps the bread to rise. Intolerances to foods get worse with age and are likely to increase the conditions that may already be in existence like, heart disease, liver, kidney and lung problems. It is also a fact that like allergies that run in families, the same applies with food intolerances. If a member of the family is intolerant to a particular food, it is very likely that another member will also suffer from the same intolerance or that it could be passed on to the next generation.

Finding recipes for a candida diet that will offer a large array of different foods can be very difficult to do. The reason is that the best anti-candida diet is one that is very simple and consists of only a few ingredients.

Candida is naturally kept in check by other benifical bacteria in your body. Sometimes it can get out of control causes an array of different problems for the sufferer. This is known as an intolerance to yeast. In order to combat the problem, sufferers should start a candida free diet for about six weeks to jump start their bodies into functioning properly once again.

Removing yeast from the diet means staying away from foods that are high in yeast like cheese, sugars and fermented foods. Foods that are high in yeast are breads, rolls, cookies, pastries, pretzels and other kinds of bread like foods.

Vinegar is something that is also high in yeast and should be avoided as well. Foods that contain vinegar like mayonnaise, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, mustard, or pickles should also be avoided. It is a good idea to add more meats and vegetables to your diet instead. A good candida free recipe will most likely consists of three very basic and plain items such as meat, vegetables and a small amount of complex carbohydrate.

The meat in such recipes may consist of ground buffalo, ground, turkey, ground beef, beef patties, chicken patties, chicken breast, chicken thighs, turkey patties, chicken patties etc. Other kinds of meat can be sardines or tuna salads. If you are going to have beef or chicken patties, make sure you leave out the bun.

You should also stay away from dried, smoked or pickled meats and cured bacon. The largest portion of the meal should be meat. Then the vegetable should be almost an equal amount to the meat and then a very small amount of the carbohydrates. It is also possible to not add any carbohydrates to the meal. When preparing the vegetables, consider steaming them.

Steaming is always the best way for cooking vegetables because steaming vegetables is a great way to retains more of the nutrients within the vegetables. Try to eat a least four to five small meals a day. Spreading your meals out will keep your blood sugar and hunger under control. Snacking in between meals is okay but should be limited to how much you eat at a time.

If you are going to snack, eat things like raw vegetables or nuts but stay away from nuts like peanuts and pistachios. If you find that you are the kind of person who is hungry a lot during the day, you can graze through out the day on things like green apples, carrot sticks, raw broccoli and asparagus, and celery sticks etc.

The added fresh vegetables to your diet will also help to clear out the dead and dying yeast cells as well as their mycotoxins from your body. Some kinds of foods you should stay away from are grapes, raisins, dates, and citrus fruit. Foods that should also be eliminated from the diet are those that contain sugar like chocolate, honey and maple syrup plus, soft drinks and drink mixes.

Candidiasis occurs when the candida within the body grows beyond normal tolerance levels. On a normal basis, candida is kept in check within the body by helpful, natural bacteria. Usually the worst symptom sufferers experience is a couple of days of diarrhea. But if the natural bacteria within the body do not build back up to a healthy balance quickly, yeast can gain a foothold and cause a widespread overgrowth.

In the mouth, this is called “thrush”. In the vagina, it is called “vaginitis” or simply a “yeast infection”. But when candidiasis occurs in the digestive tract, it can remain invisible or misdiagnosed for weeks or months. During this time it can cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms.

Candidiasis which include infections that range from superficial, like oral thrush and vaginitis, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases. Symptoms of candidiasis include constipation, bloating and gas. It may also cause the sufferer to feel full even when they have not eaten a lot of food.

Since candidiasis can also interfere with the extraction of nutrients from the food a person does eat, fatigue, low energy and hunger headaches can be common. The symptoms of candidiasis may vary depending on the area affected.

In different cases in different parts of the body the symptoms of candidiasis might include redness, itching and discomfort. Most candidial infections are treatable and result in minimal complications. Candidiasis is commonly treated with antifungal drugs. This might be in the form of creams or in pill form.

Yeast infections typically can be found upon a moist surface of the body like in the mouth, vagina and intestines. However, if the infection is left untreated for a long period of time the yeast can shift to a fungal form which sinks root-like rhizoids under the surface of the mucosa.

This usually happens without the person even realizing that there is a yeast infection that is occurring when it comes to the intestinal tract. But, when this does occur, toxins and other substances which are normally prevented from penetrating the surface of the intestinal lining are given a route to invade the rest of the body.

This causes an illness known as “leaky gut syndrome”. This kind of infection can cause a wide range of symptoms on its own. Some of these symptoms include thrush, vaginitis, diarrhea, rectal inflammation, flatulence, or bladder inflammation.

In the extreme, it can start triggering the body’s immune system to act against itself. This might lead to fatigue, muscle and joint pain, dizziness, respiratory problems, menstrual problems, eczema, acne, hives, psoriasis, insomnia, or irritability which all seem far removed from the real source of the problem. Another kind of complication is known as “invasive candidiasis” or “candidemia”. This occurs when yeast or yeast toxins enter the bloodstream.

This is usually as a result of an injury or surgery. When someone has a yeast infection in the blood they can exhibit fever and chills that are unresponsive to antibiotics. It can spread to the kidneys, liver, spleen, joints or eyes, causing further damage.

Candida is defined as a group of yeast-like fungi that live in moist areas of the body. Sometimes the candida, which is usually kept in check by beneficial bacteria in the body, can grow beyond a person’s normal tolerance levels.

It is heavy infections of candida in the stomach and intestines that can contribute to a wide range of different disorders.

In order to combat this problem, sufferers need to alter their diet to improve their health in this area. This is normally done over the course of three to six weeks. One of the most important steps in combating yeast infections is to alter your diet to deprive the yeast of sustenance.

Certain foods need to be avoided or altogether eliminated from the diet like processed, sugary foods. These foods are almost designed to promote yeast growth. The most important foods to avoid are those containing yeasts and molds including some dairy products like cheese, and fermented foods. Food that is high in starch and alcoholic substances that break down into sugars should also be avoided in this diet as well.

It may seem like there are a lot of restrictions in the types of food someone can eat when they are adapting to a diet specifically designed to combat the over production of candida. However, you are in essence getting your body back to the basics of natural unprocessed foods that are truly what the body needs.

There are a wide range of healthy and enjoyable foods that can be eaten while following such a diet. The diet calls for eating more vegetables and beans. You should also be eating more meats, eggs and whole grains. You can also include some helpful supplements in your diet. Such supplements can be found through your doctor or at your health food store. Some sufferers have found that “Probiotics”, which are pills with live beneficial bacteria, help greatly in improving symptoms and can help in restoring a more normal balance with in the body between candida and helpful bacteria.

A moderate exercise program can also help sufferers to improve their overall health as well as promoting weight loss. Many people who follow this diet say that they have increased energy and a lack of fatigue which makes exercise more possible and enjoyable and further aids in weight reduction.

By making a conscious effort to maintain the health of the body through food intake your body will be healthier and many of the undesirable symptoms of yeast overgrowth will be gone. A diet that is designed to combat the overgrowth of candida can help start a person on a path to feeling healthy and well. It is truly imperative to adapt your body to a more healthy style of eating if the recurring yeast infections are to be defeated for life.

This kind of diet can often alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel disease, migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic ear infections, asthma, and attention deficit disorder by reducing the candida level within the body.
